About 484

Chapter 484, EAA was chartered in the early 1970’s at the old Clalveras County Airport adjacent to San Andreas. Charter members included Wes Ament, Carol Kennedy, Neil Grady, Kathy Zancanella, Maury Rasmussen, Jerry Fuselien, Cecil Bergantz, Joyce Farrell, Craig Rice, Art Nelson, Bob Anderson, Dick Swendeman, Jim Riggs, Tay Howard and Jim Douglass. Charter members remaining are Kathy and Joyce. In the 70’s an airplane project was acquired for the members to build, a Starduster II, which was redesigned by to be a 2 place aerobatic bi-plane. The ‘Calavair’ was never finished and was sold to Steve Loree in Placerville who finished the plane and flew it to Calaveras for Wes’s 90th birthday to give him a chance to fly the plane he designed!!!
Chapter 484 meets in our Club Room at the airport on the 2nd Friday of each month, 6:00pm attitude adjustment, 6:30 Potluck and a 7:00pm meeting. We have several members building planes.
